Uganda gorilla tours and other safari experiences
Majority of gorilla tours in Uganda take place in the breathtaking Bwindi impenetrable national park located in the southwest of the country. The park protects half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas alongside other wildlife species. There are over 20 habituated gorilla families in Bwindi that are visited by trekkers everyday. Mgahinga gorilla national park is Uganda’s second destination for gorilla tracking tours. The park has only one habituated gorilla group that is occasionally visited by tourists especially those who also want to enjoy the golden monkey tracking experience.
Uganda gorilla tours are usually combined with other safari experiences such as game viewing, chimpanzee tracking, bird watching as well as cultural and historical tours. Our bespoke Rwanda gorilla safaris
Rwanda gorilla safaris are exclusively conducted in Volcanoes national park in the northwest of the country. The park is part of the Virunga Mountains, a conservation area that straddles the borders of Rwanda, Uganda and DR Congo popularly known for protecting endangered mountain gorillas and other primate species. There about 360 gorillas estimated to be living in Volcanoes national park. For gorilla trekking purposes, there are 12 habituated gorilla groups in the park that are visited by tourists everyday.
In Addition to gorilla tracking tours, other popular tourist attractions in Volcanoes national park include golden monkey tracking, bird watching, Volcano hiking, Dian Fossey tomb hike as well as cultural tours. Rwanda-Uganda gorilla tours and wildlife safaris
Many travellers love exploring gorilla safaris and other wildlife tours in both Uganda and Rwanda. This is because it is very easy to connect from Rwanda to Uganda via Kigali international airport. Some visitors choose to go for a double-gorilla trekking experience in both countries by tracking gorillas in Volcanoes national park and proceeding to Bwindi impenetrable national park in Uganda for the same encounter. This can also be done the other way round by starting from Uganda. Other alternative Uganda-Rwanda safaris include those that combine different wildlife and cultural experiences.
