Our Gorilla tours take place in Rwanda and Uganda. In Rwanda, we visit Volcanoes national park which has 12 habituated gorilla groups. Our gorilla tours in Uganda are conducted in Bwindi impenetrable national park with over 20 habituated gorilla groups and Mgahinga gorilla national park with one gorilla family.
Comparing gorilla tours in Rwanda and Uganda
The gorilla trekking experience is almost the same in both Uganda and Rwanda. However, there are some key differences in the price of the gorilla permit and accommodation facilities and distance from the airport to the park. Currently Rwanda’s gorilla permit is sold at $1,500 while in Uganda it is at $800 per person.
Rwanda holds an advantage over Uganda in terms of distance travelled from the Airport to the national park. (2-3 hours) from Kigali International Airport to Volcanoes national park compared to (9-10 hours) from Entebbe International Airport to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Due to the fact that Bwindi is closer to Kigali than Kampala (4-5 hours), many visitors arrive via Kigali to trek gorillas in Bwindi.
